How Are We Regulated?

As a licensed insurance broker, our responsibility is to always act in our clients’ best interests. We operate under the auspices of the Financial Services Reform Act, 2004 which is regulated by ASIC. We only deal with insurance companies which are approved by APRA, the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority.

If we do place business with a Direct Overseas Foreign Insurer (DOFI), we will give full and transparent disclosure.

We also abide by the Insurance Brokers’ Code of Conduct which provides the industry standard for transaction of brokerage business, particularly in regard to client service.

Where we act under a binding authority from an underwriter, we will acknowledge this fact and agree to be bound by the Insurers Code of Conduct.

When our clients need time critical documentation as required by legislation, we will provide a Financial Services Guide (FSG) an Important Information (I.I.) notice, the insurance company’s Policy Wording/Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and a General Advice Warning (G.A.W.) by mail, fax or email.

If we give personal advice, we will always provide a Statement of Advice, describing the reason for the insurance that has been arranged.

We also employ a dedicated compliance officer to ensure that we maintain the highest of service standards in accordance with our ASIC licensing. Finally, external audits are conducted by licensed auditors to make certain that we never “drop the ball”.

Who Are Our Relations?

The short answer is: everyone in our corporate family. At Corporate Insurance Brokers, we pride ourselves on the great relationships we enjoy with our clients, staff, underwriters, broker network and the community.

We belong to the Steadfast group, comprising over 270 independent brokers, Australia-wide. The total premium managed by this group is in excess of $6 billion. One of the many benefits of membership in this powerful, influential and well-respected body are the enhanced, industry-best Policy Wordings which we can provide for our clients along with the capacity to negotiate competitive premiums for them.

We have subscribed to the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) for many years. This organisation provides exemplary training and up-to-date industry advice as well as acting as a powerful lobby group for enhancements to the Insurance Industry as a whole.

We are also members of the Hunter Business Chamber, an organisation devoted to supporting local business and promotion of the Hunter region of NSW, state-wide, nationally and globally.

As a good corporate citizen we recognise the need to ‘give back’ to the community. To this end, we support numerous charities including:
· Leapfrog Ability
· Westpac Helicopter rescue
· NSW Sports Council for the Disabled
· 50 Kindest Companies
· Variety Club Children’s Christmas Party
· Access Industries
· House With No Steps
· Police Citizens Youth Club

Our biggest and most valued relationship of all however is with our wonderful clients. We always strive to manage each client’s insurance program with absolute transparency and a joint-venture partnership attitude so that both parties are fully aware of decisions made and obligations created by mutual consent.

The focus of Corporate Insurance Brokers therefore remains the protection of our clients’ assets thereby helping to build client wealth, business strength, prosperity and peace of mind.
